Rise Up Academics

Our Impact
We began our internship program through Ignite Institute in the fall of the 2023-2024 school year. We are proud to announce the program has since doubled, and we are continuing to expand. Our staff also teaches 12+ free class for students centered around résumé building, effective presentations, and interview prep. Along with this our staff has contributed 500+ volunteer hours, directly supporting students.

Interns
2023 - 2024
This fall we have been able to start our internship program. Our goal is to give these students real world experience. We partnered with Independent Soccer Club, and have interns developing an app and website for them. We have a Needzo design internship where a student is working to design products for the company to sell. Rise Up also partnered with a freelance developer, and their team, who are designing an app for Eastern Kentucky University, now an intern will be working and learning from them.

2024 - 2025
This year we had some of our interns continue the app and website for Independent Soccer Club, the app for Eastern Kentucky University, and the design internship through Needzo. We then had some new opportunities for students to work in a classroom. Two interns worked at Camp Ernst Middle School, one to design a mobile app, and the other worked hands on with students in STEM. Two more of our interns worked at Kelly Elementary, one of which assisted students at art club, and the other worked to help students in a reading program improve their STAR scores.

2025 - 2026
We are excited to announce that we are continuing many of our valuable partnerships. We also have interns returning as collegiate interns, who will be leading projects and mentoring high school students. Our interns will be working on an expanded version of the Eastern Kentucky App, which will now include colleges from all around Kentucky. We still have our design internship with Needzo, and our interns are continuing work at Camp Ernst Middle School and Kelly Elementary. Additionally, we are thrilled to have partnered with Stratishield AI and ASL Teaching Resources to provide even more internship opportunities for students. Through Stratishield our interns will work in AI programming, data science, and social media marketing. We have a collegiate interns working with ASL Teaching Resources, who will be working on app development, video content, social media, and blog writing.

Experiences:

In partnership with Humana Inc., Rise Up Academics was able to coordinate a trip for interns to attend the 2023 Cyber Security Awareness event at Humana's Louisville Headquarters. Students learned about concepts like 'insider threats', minimum data necessary, and deep fakes.
